More about me
I'm Luna, middle name Stella, last name Kaleidoscope, 25 yo, living in FranceI'm a (mostly) lesbian trans girl.I'm a 5th year student, preparing my master's degree in contemporary history. My thesis is about the life of a gay person in late 19th century Paris. Whatever I end up doing after that, I hope I can somehow keep studying the history of LGBTQ+ people, especially in late 19th/early 20th century, as I think there's still a lot to do in that field and, well, I'm extremely interested in the subject, as you can expect.Music is another huge chunk of my life, I pretty much can't live without putting an album on regularly. Talking about my tastes would be terribly hard though, they're all over the place.
I wrote more about my favorite albums in the Music section or on my... RYM (yeah I have that too, but mostly to have a list of albums I like, my ratings on there don't mean much), but I feel like just talking about those would be reductive, especially since I'm constantly discovering and warming up to new stuff.I started making music seriously around january 2021, but have really been fucking around with FL Studio since like 2017 (and I could go even further, I was playing a lot with Garage Band on my dad's mac when I was a kid).
I'm mostly producing instrumental hip hop and plunderphonics (the point being: I love fucking around with samples)
My first project's name is Lunar Forest, and I've released my first album, Inauditorium, on may 27th!! You can stream it on Bandcamp or Itch.io!!My other interests include anime, manga and some games.
When They Cry
The most important pieces of media for me, especially Umineko.
I'd talk about it for hours on end, but I'd have to go into detail about my personal life to explain just how much impact these had on me. I watched the Higurashi anime in high school, and it was exactly what I needed back then, it genuinely helped me deal with the depression I was going through back then (of course I've read the VN since, and of course it also blew me away).I spent a full 2 years reading Umineko, it became a part of my life on so many levels, I spent so much time thinking about its story, mysteries, characters and messages. I've been through a lot during these two years, and I could handle it thanks to this VN, at least in part. I've changed a lot as a person during this time, and it has a lot to answer for about that. I'll never thank Ryukishi and his team enough for what they brought into my life.As for Ciconia, the first chapter already blew my mind. It was a lot to take in. I love a great deal of the cast, the slice-of-life parts were a joy to read, and the rest was... soul-crushing. That's the only way I could describe it.And Higurashi Gou/Sotsu: huh. uhm. yeah. Believe in Ryukishi's plan. I'm three episodes into Sotsu and it's not looking great but. I want to keep believing.Higurashi faves: Rena, Satoko, Rika, Mion, Shion & Keichi are all my kids I love them all, I can't choose a favoriteUmineko faves: Dlanor, Lambdadelta, Ange & Beatrice are first ones that come to mind but honestly I can't choose real favorites either, they're all so good. I still want to mention Lion, Shannon, Will, Battler, Jessica, Maria, Mammon--Ciconia faves: Gunhild, Miyao, Rethabile, Jestress, Lilja, Lingji, Naomi
Arknights
Oh boy did I fall down this rabbitholeThis is the first time I ever got this invested in a mobage. Sure, as usual, it's the designs and voice cast that drew me in, but in the end, the game itself kept my attention. I'm having lots of fun, even though I barely ever played any strategy-based game before. Its mechanics and meta may seem like a lot to handle at first, but after a week or two of playing, I was pretty much completely used to them, they're actually quite intuitive and the game isn't too punitive. Sure some maps can be an absolute pain, but generally their design is pretty creative and they're really fun to solve. The story can be pretty hit-or-miss for me, though, but the individual characters' stories, personalities and dynamics do make up for it. I grew attached to a lot of them, and some I even consider as all-around favorite characters. If you're already playing and wanna see how I'm doing, or you don't and want a glimpse of what the game looks like, I'll add screenshots of my profile and operators belowFaves: Ptilopsis, Magallan, Carnelian, Beeswax, Silence, Hoshiguma, Vigna, Eyjafjalla, Ifrit, Thorns, Mousse, Kroos, Bagpipe, Blue Poison, Tomimi, Rosmontis

(Didn't screenshot my whole roster, only my E2s, I didn't feel like spending an hour or so on this)
Touhou Project
Like many people, I mostly got into Touhou through the fandom, with discussions, fanarts, fanworks etc. I tried playing the games but... yeah they're horribly hard. Or I just suck that much ass at STGs, idk. I've watched playthroughs, though, so I could get to know the stories and characters anyway. I also plan on reading the official mangas and probably a lot of fan-works, which is why it feels like I'm gonna get infinite content out of this franchise, and I love that feeling.
(edit: I've watched the Musou Kakyou anime, which was really fun and had incredible voice acting, including YOUMU BEING VOICED BY AOI YUUKI GOD)The lore is so endearing, even though I'm, as of now, far from having a full grasp of it (I doubt anyone has, though, there's just so much to it). It kinda feels like it came from the imagination of some 20yo chuuni kid who spends time talking about their OCs (see: me) but like, taken to another level, of course. I guess what I mean is that I feel how much fun ZUN had creating and writing these characters, which is part of why I love them so much
The other part is, well, they're such good characters.Faves: Youmu, Sanae, Marisa, Yuyuko, Reisen, Seija, Koishi, Satori, Sumireko, Cirno, Hecatia, Mamizou, Miko & Mokou
Magical Girls
I'm not sure how to explain the connection I feel with magical girl shows but cute girls transforming into cute outfits to cutely fight forces of evil just kinda speaks to my heart. It might simply be that I love both casts of endearing cute characters and exciting fights and adventures (although there are some typical magical girl tropes I like too). In any case, the result is that I enjoyed pretty much every magical girl show I ever watched. My love for the genre was greatly sparked by Madoka Magica and Cardcaptor Sakura (both still being among my very favorites), even though it actually took off only about a year ago, and I still haven't watched some classic shows like Ojamajo Doremi (I plan on doing that, don't worry)Also, don't tell anyone but I actually am a magical girlFav shows: Cardcaptor Sakura, Madoka Magica, Tokyo Mew Mew, Princess Tutu, Lyrical Nanoha (especially A's), Heartcatch Precure, Senki Zesshou Symphogear (especially XV), Bishoujo Senshi Sailor MoonFaves: Momomiya Ichigo / Mew Ichigo (Tokyo Mew Mew), Tachibana Hibiki (Symphogear), Fate Testarossa (Lyrical Nanoha), Yukishiro Honoka / Cure White (Futari Wa Precure), Miki Sayaka (Madoka Magica), Ahiru (Princess Tutu), Cure Sunshine (Heartcatch Precure), Hino Rei / Sailor Mars (Sailor Moon)
Music
I uhhh love music. I listen to a lot of it. Constantly. I'm probably gonna be deaf by age 40 but hey not much I can do about it, I'm long since pretty much addicted.
My tastes are a mess to say the least. I enjoy everything from indie pop to noise rock, from black metal to drone or from cool jazz to uhh hip hop. To be fair, hip hop (which is honestly a very broad term) makes for most of what I've listened to over the past few... years, I think, at this point.
It'd be very hard for me to pick general favorite artists, there's a quick list on my RYM but it's far from complete enough to be satisfying. Choosing favorite albums is a bit easier, which is why I recently tried to make a topsters list (three of them actually, my top 100 albums, honorable mentions and top 16 EPs), which I added below because I think they're the best way to represent whatever I'm listening to. I also made a thread of my favorite albums a while ago (which mostly overlaps with the topsters) in which I added comments about why I love them. It's over a year old at this point but it's still fairly accurate.
I also have this thread going on where I regularly share songs I love, and it's pretty representative of what I'm into these days (the tweet I linked to is the most recent one at the time I write this, but you can just scroll up until you're tired of it, I've been keeping it since like, february 2020, I think?)Anyway, here are the topsters!!
